I haven’t flown since July and of course much change on the app. Prior year when I processed a map, if I uploaded the photos from desktop the map would show the edge of the photos. Which would mean I could fly inside the boundary but still see outside the boundary. This enabled me to save both time and battery usage. I tried using the crop function, but it wouldn’t expand the map enough. Any suggestions?

Thanks for reaching out with this. You may be experiencing out smart crop - which will crop the plan to the image boundary. You can workaround this by dropping in your images → then, click on the map icon or three dots in the upload window (seen below)
This will give you the option to adjust/set your preferred boundary:
