Mapping a linear distance to calculate the earth curve

Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to map 100 miles of liner distance and measure the earth’s curve using photogrammetry. It should show over a mile at that distance?

I don’t think it would work because the done uses gps or pressure for altitude. So if I fly at 150ft the model would look flat except for the terrain.

Hi @Mtaivalmaa,

Thanks for swinging by the DroneDeploy Forum. At the moment, this is not possible with DroneDeploy.

Hmmm. That’s pushing the envelope here!
I don’t think at this early stage of this technology many people request that.
It may be awhile before that is developed.

Wouldn’t it be much easier to take two photos and get their coords, then feed them into something similar to Earth Curve Calculator? Unless you are needing very specific measurements, systems which project a linear map into a ellipsodial one are pretty accurate.
