Male Row Stand Counts

Hello, I just got done watching the webinar with Ethan Leonard speaking about stand counts. It was very informational. I have used the stand count feature for 3 years now. We raise seed corn and it does a good job at detecting the male and female rows. I understand when it calculates the stand count it excludes the male rows, which is great. But…I was wondering if it would be possible to give a stand count for the female row and a stand count for the male rows as well. It would be valuable information to know the stand count of the female row and of the male row. Essentially, we would just need to calculate the stand on the already identified and excluded rows. Would this option ever be a possibility to implement?

@bcurry100 This is a great question. I’m very interested in the same thing. I’ve used DD for stand counts the last 4 years and have done a hand full of counts on seed corn fields.

For clarification, in our area where we produce seed corn the rows are in a bull to cow ratio of 1:4. Meaning every one bull row (male row) there is four cow rows (female rows). Nearly every seed corn field I work with has a double planted bull row~ meaning the row is planted once and within a 1-2 week window they plant it again. This ensures proper pollination from the bull rows to the cow rows.

I’ve attached a screenshot of a sample image. If you zoom in it appears the bull rows are still being counted. I’m assuming it would be simple for DD to count all the plants in the bull row and include that as a separate stand count on Drone Deploys pdf deliverable.
