Starting up this thread to discuss likes, dislikes and bugs experienced in this version. I didn’t get to fly with 4.6 too much as there was a pretty quick progression through the updates so some of this may be carrying over and is still existent in the new version.
Two missions this morning. The first was a multi-battery 120 acre ranch site for design consultation. Initially the mission went fine, but upon the battery swap I received the problem where drone initialization would not commence. I restarted all of the hardware and when continuing the mission the planning screen went black. I rebooted again and it did the same thing, but I noticed that the camera preview was live so after switching to it and then back to the match screen the map then showed up. Previous to all of this before switching batteries I noticed that the full mission had not been loaded so I thought I was going to have to stop at the next battery and create a new version of the mission to capture the end, but after wiggling through the battery change issues the rest of the complete mission did appear and completed correctly.
The second project had a standard nadir mapping flight and I added a Linear mission while in flight. This one experienced the initialization stall at the mission beginning, but not during the battery swap. It also experienced the planning screen blackout at the beginning of the mission after recovering from the initialization stall. When it works the initialization takes anywhere from five to fifteen seconds and it appears that once it goes beyond 15 seconds it just does not complete. After one reboot and getting the initialization to go through both missions being three batteries completed successfully.
Both missions on the second project experienced the skewed flight behaviour. It does appear that the drone is in a constant rotation so the skew is most noticeable in middle of a leg.
Last but not least, I had mentioned of a different black screen issue where I was losing video feed in flight and can confirm that it is due to the iPad getting hot. It started to flicker so I turned on my truck and put the AC vent on it for about 10 seconds and it stopped. Luckily the drone was in a straight section in front of my so I could just stand next to it with the iPad in front of the vent. After a couple minutes it had cooled down significantly and I was able to complete the mission without the AC assist.
