I am not sure why this is still an issue. For a missions the require multiple batteries there is a 50/50 chance that the drone will not initialize after the battery swap. I am using Mavic 2 Pro and it is nerve racking every time a battery swap is required. Even after application closed and re-opened the drone would not initialize, and sometimes after application restart there is no “Continue Flight” message and the mission needs to be started from the beginning. This results in using more batteries than required and wasted time.
Yes, I use free app, but I only use it for flying, which it the main functionality of the app. I also guarantee that people who pay hundreds of dollars for the paid version, experience the same issues. This is unacceptable.3
I have a Phantom 4 PRO. Never had any problems with the Dronedeploy program, I use the free version only for flights.
A year ago there was a mission on 9 batteries, flew at minus 19˚C. After each battery change, I moved to a new place, the Phantom 4 PRO always returned to the take-off point after changing for a new battery. The mission was completed successfully. I have been using the Dronedeploy program since 2018, there have never been any problems with replacing batteries, the drone always returned for them.
You can try to completely remove the Dronedeploy and Dji Go4 programs and reinstall them, over time, errors sometimes accumulate there. Perhaps this will solve the problem, if not, you need to look for the problem in the drone itself.
Don’t get me wrong, but the Mavic 2 Pro is 6 year old technology and at EOL. The same kind of things started happening to the Phantom 3 Pro when it was retired and they started focusing on new models and functionality. It doesn’t make it right but in this environment and the amount of change it’s just not feasible to support everything forever. I would definitely make persistent contact with support to see if you found a bug in a new version, but beyond that I don’t know what
