When Panos are downloaded from DD, the photos are not immediately useable/viewable as 360’s in other applications and platforms. This is due to missing some photosphere parameters, most notably those from Google in the GPano namespace.
I’m not an expert on this topic, but the following two parameters are what I’ve noticed that make a significant difference:
ProjectionType=equirectangular
UsePanoramaViewer=true
While DD makes taking Panos easy, using them in other ways outside of DD is not.
Can these please be included with all Panos on DD?
Besides manually insert the metadata, you can also use tools like exiftool (https://exiftool.org/) which works great. Other tools like exif pilot can also be good to have in your toolbox.
But I was a little too vague when I referred to ‘downloaded’ photos.
I need the metadata to be in the photos on DD, so that they exist when the photos are transferred via the API to other platforms. Performing any metadata updates offline is not an option.
Further to this request, it would appear that DD uses the same open source 360 viewer (Pannellum) as the platform which I would like to bring the Panos into.
This would suggest that the metadata is already stored in DroneDeploy, but it is then removed(?) during transfer.
It would be good to get some DD technical input on this.
