I understand the terrain-follow feature adjusts the drone’s elevation to follow digital elevation maps. What would be next-level, if we could import a 3D BIM model of our facility, and have DroneDeploy automatically calculate a flight path in 3D space that would map all sides of the fascade and the roofs. This level of automation would make asset inspections extremely simple, and using the BIM model to respect stand-off distances and ‘no-fly volumes’ would make it safer as well.
I agree. There were discussions in the past of being able to do a Live Map session to collect a sparse point cloud that could be used to generate a DEM for surface following but that needs to be revived.
