3D Models and GCP over 100acres map

I have emailed about this using the online contact form, but I have not received a response from DroneDeploy. I’d like some advice from anyone who has had a similar experience.

I usually work with mapping areas of less than 100 acres to create a 3D model, capturing below 2,000 images and with a flight altitude of less than 350 feet (<110m). However, using the software, I note that when entering a flight plan, a message arises stating: Enhanced 3D
Toggle (Enhanced 3D is not optimized for large maps.) 1.) Does this mean that DroneDeploy no longer collects GCP points above a certain scale? 2). Or does this mean it is not ideal but will still capture the GCP points?

I would be grateful for anyone with this experience. Thank you, Mitch

We fly maps around a 100 acres (roughly 6 GCPs, 1200 images). We have no problems with that, we are currently in earthworks phase so are not using enhanced 3D. Have you tried processing it?

Generally Enhanced 3D is not recommended for large maps as those are usually more terrain related and Enhanced 3D is meant for vertical/structural capture. Obliques are not good for GCP’s and while having obliques cleans up those aspects it actually hurts the terrain accuracy. It also takes a lot longer to process.
