I use the volumetric tool on a regular basis. The line measurement tool is useful as is the graphed cross section. It would be great if you could take a, for example, heap of aggregates, calculate the volume, show any number cross sections across the heap and be able to export those cross sections as a report.

Agreed. As is now the profile/cross section tool is more of a neat toy, opposed to a useful tool. Like be it, just eant more
